Hey. I’m Ben Jenkins, Strength and Conditioning coach and founder of Lift Coaching.

I started Lift to help athletes around the world improve their performance. From weekend warriors to full-time professionals, I coach individuals involved in a wide range of sports at every level. Our goal is always to optimise performance — but the training required to achieve this will look different for everyone.

It starts with developing stiffness — your ability to resist collapse and create a stable base — allowing you to convert force into speed, power, and control.

The crew absolutely smashed it, with stats continuing to climb.

Testing keeps us honest, there’s no hiding from the data. Does the program work? Have the athletes been putting in the work?

One of the biggest problems I see in “surf training” is coaches making wild claims like “this exercise makes you turn harder” while showing off circus tricks that have little to no real-world force transfer.

If you want to develop the ability to transfer force, your programming better reflect that or it’ll become obvious when testing rolls around.

We’ve all been there… me probably more than mo We’ve all been there… me probably more than most.

Long stretches out of the water, then finally paddling again, only to find the body struggling to keep up with the endurance needed for those long sessions. Over the years, I’ve tried different training methods to keep myself and my clients paddle ready, with solid results. 

But I’ve never actually put it to the test, until now.

This time, I’m running an experiment on myself: can purely landlocked training improve sprint speed and repeat sprint ability?

Of course, there are other variables at play. Technique, for one, is a big factor in paddling speed and efficiency. So, I’ll be keeping my average technique consistent to make this experiment as real as possible 👀.

The programme will be built, and testing starts up again around Christmas.
